Crystal Lake man dead after being pulled from lake
A 52 year old Crystal Lake man is dead after being pulled from Crystal Lake Thursday afternoon, officials said Friday.
John Toye was pronounced dead at Centegra Memorial Hospital in Woodstock at 4:11 p.m. after being transported from a beach in the 1000 block of North Shore Drive in Crystal Lake, officials said.
Rescue crews were dispatched to the beach at about 3:30 p.m. with reports that Toye was unresponsive after being pulled from the lake by boaters, fire officials said.
Bystanders who called rescue crews had moved the man out of the water and brought the victim to shore on a boat, officials said.
He was transported to Memoprial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by officials from the McHenry County Coroner's Office.
McHenry County Coroner Marlene Lantz said an autopsy has begun on Toye and that a cause of death should be known later Friday.
The incident remains under investigation by the Crystal Lake Police Department.
