Bond set for accused Naperville mailbox vandal
Bail was set at $3,500 in Will County court late Thursday for a 19-year-old Naperville man accused of knocking down and destroying 22 mailboxes on the city's southwest side.
Britt Andros of the 4400 block of Esquire Circle was charged with 21 counts of criminal damage to property and one count of resisting a peace officer, resulting in his arrest early Wednesday morning.
He also is charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and with being an intoxicated subject in a roadway, both misdemeanors.
Naperville Police Cmdr. Dave Hoffman said Thursday that 22 mailboxes were found "overturned, destroyed, pulled out and thrown in the street" on the 3700 block of Faulkner Drive, the 1400 block of Grommon Road, the 3700 block of Mandeville Lane and the 1400 block of Orwell Road.
Officials said Andros appeared intoxicated and that police subdued him with a Taser after a brief foot chase by officers.
If convicted, Andros faces up to a year in jail.
