Batavia Foundation: Each year, the Batavia Foundation for Educational Excellence awards $20,000 in grants to programs that will benefit the students of the Batavia school district and enhance the quality of education.

On Friday, June 19, the Batavia Foundation will hold its 10th annual golf outing at Bliss Creek Golf Course in Sugar Grove. The event will begin at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start, and will conclude with a steak dinner, awards and silent auction.

They are hoping the event will sell out with approximately 100 golfers. Visit www.BataviaFoundation.org and print out a registration form today. Or e-mail info@bataviafoundation.org for information. The event offers prizes (low and high), betting holes, hole-in-one bet, and bogey cards.

In addition to seeking golfers, there are sponsorship opportunities and a silent auction.

The Batavia Foundation for Education Excellence was established 20 years ago to enhance the educational programs in all the schools within Batavia Unit District 101. By attracting private funds to supplement the regular educational revenues, the foundation provides support for the development of enrichment programs and services.

Teresa Schueneman Memorial Golf Outing: On Friday, July 10, CPS Inc. will be sponsoring the fifth annual Teresa Schueneman Memorial Golf Outing. Over the past five years, the outing has nearly doubled in size and last year's donation was the largest yet. Over the past three years, they have sponsored organizations that provide support for breast cancer victims. This year, they have chosen the Breast Cancer Network of Strength (formerly the Y-ME) as the charity.

In 2006, CPS lost Teresa Schueneman to breast cancer. At that time they decided the CPS Charity Golf Outing would be known as the Teresa Schueneman Memorial Open. It would support organizations whose purpose was to provide support for women diagnosed with this terrible disease.

After golf, join a complimentary lunch, drinks and post-golf activities that include a raffle and auction. The event will again take place at the Links at Carillon, 21200 S. Carillon Drive, just off I-55 and Weber Road in Plainfield. Cost is $110. This includes lunch, drinks (after golf), gift bag and event T-shirt.

Make checks payable to CPS Inc. Registration will take place the day of the event from 8 to 8:40 a.m. The event will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. For details, visit www.cpscharitygolfouting.com.
