Violence in Hanover Park

A look at recent violent attacks in Hanover Park.

• June 6: Information emerged late Saturday evening of a death investigation on County Farm Road. Police did not release details because family members had not been identified.

• June 6: Diontae Roberts, 23, of the 1700 block of Briarwood Avenue, was stabbed to death in the 8000 block of Catawba Lane. Police are investigating.

• June 4: Norma Favela, 31, of the 1700 block of Linden Avenue, and her unborn child, were beaten to death in what police say was a domestic dispute. Rafael Alvarado, 32, of the same address, charged in their deaths.

• May 23: Jesus Sanchez, 16, of the 7100 block of Mulberry Street, was shot multiple times less than a block from his home as he was returning from playing soccer. No arrest has been made.

• May 5: A 19-year-old man was stabbed on the 6900 block of Meadowbrook Lane.

• April 29: A 25-year-old man was stabbed in the chest near Pebblebeach and Catalina drives. Youths 14 and 16 years old were charged in what officials describe as a gang-related incident.

• April 20: A 15-year-old was stabbed near Church Street and Redwood Avenue in what was described as a gang-related incident.

• March 18: Police arrested a juvenile for shooting into a car at Barrington Road and Walnut in what was described as a gang-related incident. No one was hit.

• March 14: An 18-year-old Streamwood man was shot near Sycamore Avenue and Church Street. Jesus Frye, 15, of the 1900 block of Evergreen Avenue, was charged as an adult in what officials described as a gang-related incident.

• Dec. 9: A 19-year-old Aurora man was stabbed in the 5500 block of Court A. An 18-year-old Bloomingdale man was charged with battery in what was described as a dispute between acquaintances.

• Nov. 25: Rocio Munez-Ramos, 26, of Elgin, was gunned down outside the salon where she worked at Park Place shopping center, near the corner of Barrington and Irving Park roads. Sergio Hernandez, 23, of Aurora, who police described as a former boyfriend, was charged with the murder.

• Nov. 20: Vatsala Thakkar, 56, of Hanover Park, was stabbed to death inside the dollar discount store she managed at 5662 Arlington Drive East. Jerry Lockhart, 39; Dewaun Tate, 17; and Seneca Berry, 15; all of Hanover Park, were charged with robbery and murder.
