Get into Halloween spirit early at fall fest

Parents with kids who are itching for Halloween can distract them Friday with the Warrenville Park District's annual Fall Family Fun Fest.

The event, now in its fourth year, runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Recreation Center, 3S260 Warren Ave.

New this year is a magic show, storytelling, large inflatables, a bungee run, pirate ship (with slide), jump areas and obstacle courses. But the biggest new draw will doubtless be the mysterious Spooktacular Room.

While there will be plenty of new attractions, the popular Halloween costume contest will return, with prizes awarded at different levels.

A concession area will offer brats, hot dogs, chips and beverages for sale. There also will be free caramel apples.

There is no entrance fee to the Fun Fest, and no charge for the live storytelling or magic show. Games, rides, and the Spooktacular Room, however, require a $5 wrist band or tickets.
