All-star track meet set; camps commence at Elk Grove, Mundelein
The 10th annual Senior All-Star Track and Field Spotlight Meet, which features athletes from Illinois, Iowa, South Dakota and Wisconsin, is at 10 a.m. Saturday at the University of Northern Iowa.
The meet, co-founded by Palatine boys head coach John Nalley and Dick Washburn of Muscatine, Iowa, has featured future Olympians, world-class athletes and collegiate stars.
The top Illinois male athletes include Mike Karwowski and Jason Zerfahs (Elk Grove), John Wood (Fremd), Nick Busch and Tim Williams (Palatine) and Ty Kirk and James Shawley (Rolling Meadows).
The top Illinois female athletes include Destiny Arps, Toni Graham, Briana Millar and Emily Quinones (Conant), Bailey Wagner and Tori Ziegler (Grant), Bridget Sanchez (Leyden) and Brittney Mule and Lucy Taylor (Prospect).
Volleyball camps: F.O.C.U.S. Sports, Inc., will host summer volleyball camps in conjunction with the Elk Grove and Mount Prospect park districts. The camps start on June 16.
There is a Skills and Drills camp which teaches boys and girls from first through 10th grade various aspects of the game with an emphasis on basic fundamentals.
The Specialty Volleyball Camps are co-ed for seventh through 12th graders and are designed to train and teach players about specific positions.

Mundelein baseball camp: Mundelein High School will host its 15th annual baseball camp for kids from kindergarten through ninth grade.
The camp for eighth and ninth graders is June 9-12 from 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. On June 16-19, there will be camps for kindergarten through third grade (9 a.m.-11 a.m.) and for fourth through seventh grade (noon-2 p.m.).
