Lisle Park District looks to fill vacancy
Lisle park leaders are looking for someone who uses the parks and can manage a budget.
They're looking to fill a vacancy on the five-member park board.
"It'd be nice (if whoever) comes on board has a good interest in the park district activities and the working of the district," board President Don Cook said.
Commissioner Barb Will recently resigned after eight years on the board. She relocated to Vienna, Ill., where she accepted a teaching position.
Residents have until Sept. 4 to submit letters of interest for the position.
Commissioners serve four-year terms. They're responsible for the budget and parks policy-making. The park board meets every third Thursday of the month. Applicants must be 18 years old and live within the Lisle Park District.
Inquiries should be sent to the attention of Dan Garvy, 1825 Short St., Lisle, 60532.
"What the staff looks for is someone who is involved and engaged in the community and the Lisle Park District operations and is willing to give some time and energy and foresight, I guess," said Garvy, director of parks and recreation.
Commissioners will meet Sept. 6 to review applications and schedule interviews. They plan to name the new commissioner before the September board meeting, Cook said.
