Prosecutors: Maple Park teen violates bond
A Maple Park man charged with dumping a friend's body in a Chicago alley has violated the terms of his bond again by twice testing positive for alcohol, prosecutors said Thursday.
Jordan D. Billek, 19, is one of three people accused of obstructing justice in the suspected heroin-overdose death of 17-year-old Michael York of Elburn in December 2007.
Assistant Kane County State's Attorney Kelly Orland said in court Thursday that Billek, who was arrested on a drug possession charge in March, failed random drug and alcohol tests May 4 and 11. Orland filed a motion asking Kane County Judge Allen M. Anderson to raise or revoke Billek's bond; Anderson set the matter for June 10.
This is not the first time Billek has been accused of violating the terms of his release from jail while awaiting trial. In March, he was arrested in Aurora on charges he possessed an opiate and syringe.
As a result, Anderson ordered Billek to check in with the county probation department once a week, continue an addiction treatment program, and submit to random tests for drugs and alcohol.
Billek attorney Jeffrey Fawell, who has described his client as a heroin addict with bipolar disorder, did not respond to prosecutors' allegations Thursday. He previously said Billek was "making substantial steps" toward sobriety.
Billek is charged in the York case along with Nathan Green, 22, of Maple Park, and Lindsey Parker, 18, of St. Charles. Authorities say the three dumped York's body in Chicago after a night of hard drug use at Parker's parents' home in St. Charles, where York appeared to overdose. His cause of death is undetermined.
The trio were charged early this year after a lengthy police investigation. Both Green and Parker have pleaded not guilty.
