Man charged in 2001 assault:

A DuPage County judge set a 56-year-old Naperville man's bond at $1.5 million Friday after he was charged with the 2001 sexual assault of a 5-year-old girl. Alejandro Garduno remains behind bars at the DuPage County jail in Wheaton. Prosecutors allege Garduno sexually assaulted the girl in 2001, but the attack only came to light recently when the now-12-year-old revealed it to police who were investigating another sexual assault allegation involving the girl perpetrated by someone else. Prosecutors said Garduno could face additional charges.

Itasca tobacco sting:

Itasca police performed compliance checks to determine if tobacco retailers are complying with minimum-age tobacco laws. Police said 16 tobacco retailers were inspected and only one establishment - the 7-Eleven at 950 N. Rohlwing Road - sold tobacco to a minor working with police. The inspections were funded in part by a grant awarded by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission's Tobacco Enforcement Program.
