New arts council forms:

A Warrenville Arts Council has formed to promote awareness and appreciation of fine and performing arts in the community. The council will sponsor its inaugural event, "Arts Works '09: A Warrenville Showcase," on Nov. 22 in the new IBEW building on Bella Vista Parkway. Aurora traffic crackdown:

Four recent traffic enforcement operations aimed at reducing traffic crashes by 3 percent this year resulted in 132 citations being issued by Aurora police with an additional 46 warning tickets and 19 verbal warnings. The majority of the citations were for speeding. The details were conducted in areas where there are large numbers of speeding complaints. Traffic crashes are down by 15.8 percent this year in the city.

Road closings in Naperville:

Several street closings will be in effect Friday, June 19, in Naperville as part of the World Day of Prayer for Priests event. On that day, Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church near downtown will sponsor an outdoor Mass beginning at 6 p.m. in the parking lot west of the church. To accommodate the Mass, a temporary road closure and no parking/tow zone will be required from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Ellsworth Street from Franklin Avenue to Benton Avenue. To accommodate the crowd anticipated to attend a picnic in Central Park following the Mass, a temporary road closure and no parking/tow zone will be required from 3 to 10 p.m. on Court Place from Benton Avenue to Concert Lane.
