Suspect in custody after fatal stabbing in Wheaton home

A man was killed and another was in police custody Saturday after a stabbing at a Wheaton home Friday night, police said.

Authorities also said they were interviewing witnesses to the stabbing, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. Friday at a party on the 800 block of Crescent Street.

The victim, whose name had not yet been released pending family notification, died early Saturday morning at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, authorities said.

Wheaton Police Chief Mark Field said the victim and the man in custody were acquaintances. He said there are between five and 15 witnesses who detectives began interviewing around noon Saturday.

Field said investigators were still trying to determine what led to the dispute.
