Weihofen positive about Lakemoor's future

Ryan "Todd" Weihofen campaigned on a promise to "bring the voice of the people back to the village of Lakemoor."

The 33-year-old married father of three children was sworn in as Lakemoor's new village president May 14. He says he's grateful to have a chance to lead the town into a new era where transparency and open communication are valued.

"People should be able to contact the elected officials, and they have a right to know what's going on in their community." he said.

We asked Weihofen a series of questions about how he will govern during his term. Here are his responses.

Q. What did you learn from the campaign that you hope to put into action as village president?

A. One thing I've learned from the campaign is that we have a lot of great people that feel that their needs have not been met in the community. We, as elected officials have an obligation to serve and represent the needs of the members of our community and we will do this.

Q. What is your vision for Lakemoor?

A. My vision for Lakemoor is to be a quiet suburban community with sufficient commercial infrastructure to support the tax base of our community. I would like Lakemoor to be a community that has services and programs for all of it's residents to utilize and enjoy, including a functioning parks system and programs to help our elderly residents.

Q. What will be your first priority as village president?

A. My first priority is to make sure all of our departments are operating in a professional manner and with the best interests of the community at hand.

Q. What will be the first initiative, project or proposal you develop?

A. My first initiative is to build a village hall.

Q. Name and explain one thing for which you admire your predecessor. But also, what one thing do you want to do better than your predecessor?

A. I admire my predecessor's determination and the fact that she never gave up, even while faced with adversity, she fought for what she thought was right for the citizens of Lakemoor. I plan on having a positive working relationship with our board and keeping our village in a forward direction.

Q. How will you put your mark on this office?

A. I will put my mark on this office with honesty, integrity and professionalism.
