Historic Methodist Campground walking tour
The Des Plaines History Center has organized a historic walking tour of the Methodist Campground led by Ray Hund of the campground's staff from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.
The Methodist Campground in Des Plaines is well known for its swimming pool and quaint white and green cottages. It's on National Register of Historic Places, the only place in Des Plaines to claim that title.
Participants will learn about the history of the camp and see some of the historic buildings.
The tour price is $5 for individuals and $10 for families, including coffee and snacks before the tour begins. Tickets can be reserved by calling the History Center at (847) 391-5399. Information on the History Center is at desplaineshistory.org.
