Central School gets a national audience

Greg Peerbolte, executive director of the Mount Prospect Historical Society, will discuss last year's relocation of the 1896 one-room Central School at this year's national conference of the Country Schoolhouse Association of America, June 15-17 n Latrobe, Pa. The presentation, "A Country Schoolhouse in the Big City: Mount Prospect's 1896 Central School," will focus on the school's history and the efforts to save and restore it.

"I think it will be a fascinating presentation for conference attendees because this 'country' schoolhouse was preserved on the fringe of one of the country's largest metropolitan areas," Peerbolte said. "I hope the conference will provide networking opportunities and give the ongoing Central School Campaign national prominence."
