Are you ready to be inventive?
One reason we are having a difficult time with recessions is that there is not enough new under the sun. Our economy today depends on a few industries that never become obsolete, but rather continue ad infinitum with only small modifications.
These industries resist change and are comfortable with the status quo. Some of these industries are vital to our mode of living, like the auto, home-building, TV, computer, telephone and war industries, but what we need is more inventiveness and newer inventions. We need people that will bring new products to rattle the markets, which were never thought of before and which will create the significantly larger industries we need. In other words, we must value deep thinking and creativity more than we do, and reward it. At least that's one way to stimulate and continue an economy.
I heard that IBM once made a study to determine who are most likely to invent something. They found that anyone has the potential to be inventive, whether engineering genius or housewife. Will you be the one to start the next major industry?
