Bring your flashlight for all-night flea market
It's not unusual for shoppers to show up with miner's lights strapped to their hats.
There's no handier way, they say, to find the best bargains when power shopping outdoors at midnight.
And this Saturday, more than 8,000 people are expected to show up for an overnight bargain hunt during the 26th annual All-night Flea Market at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton.
The show, which runs from 5 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday, features hundreds of dealers selling wares like antiques, art, jewelry, toys, collectibles and furniture both indoors and out.
The Travel Channel rated the event fifth in its list of Top 10 flea markets in the world.
Promoter Bob Zurko said the overnight hours are what makes the event popular and unique.
"It's very nontraditional, but that's what makes it so much fun," Zurko said. "Women show up early and hang out in the parking lot --like people do for football games -- and they all wear their pajamas. It's awesome."
The flea market will go on rain or shine. Food will be available for purchase and parking is free.
