Funeral set for Elburn crash victims

Funeral arrangements are set for a St. Charles couple who died in a horrific crash Saturday near Elburn.

Visitation for Wade and Denise Thomas, ages 44 and 45, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, with a funeral to follow at 11 a.m. Monday at the same location.

The Thomases were killed in a nine-vehicle pileup Saturday while traveling Route 47 with a group of motorcycle riders taking a day trip to Wisconsin. The crash happened about 8:40 a.m., when a separate crash in the oncoming lane sent a vehicle into the motorcycles' path, police said. One driver was ticketed.

Wade Thomas, who grew up in St. Charles, is remembered as a "jack of all trades" who was known for his elaborate holiday light displays and owned a trucking company, according to an obituary.

Denise Thomas grew up in Elmhurst and was an information technologies director in Chicago. The couple were well-known for their love of motorcycles and their involvement in the Aurora Turner's Club.

Monday's funeral service will be recorded and available to family and friends for download at www.conleycare.com the following day, the funeral home said. A memorial also has been established in the couple's name at P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119.
