Lakemoor police chief dismissed
Hoping to spark a change, Lakemoor officials have cut ties with longtime Police Chief Wallace Frasier.
The village board approved a "mutual separation agreement" with Frasier Thursday night during the first village board meeting under new village president Todd Weihofen.
"I can't discuss anything legally," Weihofen said on Friday. "We are going to be making quite a few changes in town."
Trustee Colin McIntyre said Weihofen felt a change was needed in the top cop position.
"Todd wanted to bring someone in that he felt he could work with," McIntyre said. "And, the board majority agreed it was time for a change."
McIntyre was one of three trustees who backed the move. Trustees Ralph Brindise and Robert Koehl abstained from the vote.
Lakemoor Police Sgt. Rick Iverson was named interim chief for 90 days while the village searches for a replacement, McIntyre said.
Frasier, who has worked in Lakemoor since 2001, declined to comment on the agreement, but said "I enjoyed the opportunity I had in Lakemoor and I wish nothing but the best to the village and the residents."
Weihofen also said the village will be taking applications to fill the vacant posts of village administrator and building commissioner.
"We can't have a part-time boss with full-time employees," Weihofen said. "The administrator can do a lot of the work we pay others on the outside to do. Basically, we are going to clean up the town."
