Flyers pitcher wins honor

With 1.13 ERA and surrendering only 8 hits over two starts, Dustin Glant of the Schaumburg Flyers was named Pitcher of the Week by the Northern League.

Glant, a right-hander, opened the season by pitching seven innings of 3-hit ball against the Joliet Jackhammers on May 16. He followed it up with a complete game victory against Joliet five days later, yielding just 1 earned run in both games.

The a 6-2, 200-pounder pitcher was signed by the Flyers as a six-year free agent following his release from the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. He currently ranks third in the Northern League in ERA (1.13) and tied for the league lead in wins (2). Glant was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the seventh round of the 2003 Amateur Entry Draft, and he played collegiately at Purdue.
