14-day South American cruise has Galapagos Islands stop

Those who have always wanted to take a cruise vacation to the Galapagos Islands and Peru can realize that dream and also help the Midwest Museum of Natural History in Sycamore.

The museum has teamed up with Globus Journeys and Carder Travel for an opportunity to experience some of the natural and historic treasures of South America. The cruise ship bound for a 14-day land and water excursion will sail on Feb. 10, 2010. Each ticket sold will include a tax-deductible donation to the museum.

Included in this cruise of a lifetime are a walking tour of Lima, Peru; a guided visit of Cuzco, former capital of the Inca Empire; an excursion to Otavalo and an Indian market; a guided tour of Quito; and visits to ancient ruins. The trip will be highlighted by a tour to the mystical Machu Picchu and 4 days discovering the animals and edible plants unique to only the Galapagos Islands.

All interested in learning more are invited to an informational session at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 9 at the Midwest Museum of Natural History, 425 W. State St., Sycamore. Carder Travel and Globus Journeys will detail the trip, followed by a tour of the museum with Chris Brodnicki. RSVP your attendance by calling (815) 895-9777.

Free parking is available in the city lot across from the museum and next to the theater. For specific information about the cruise, contact Phyllis Carder or Steven Johnson at Carder Travel, (815) 756-1547.
