Mount Prospect convenience store basks in glow of winning Lotto ticket

Mount Prospect's Circle G Convenience Store, 1580 S. Busse Road, is trumpeting how it sold the lone winning ticket in Saturday's Illinois Lotto drawing, but the actual winner is being a bit more demure.

Circle G proudly displays a sign at the door, courtesy of the Illinois Lottery, that it's the lucky store that sold Saturday's $3.25 million winner. But as of Monday, cashier Ninos Gogres said no one had come forward there to boast about holding the ticket, so he doesn't know who bought it or if he or one of the other cashiers sold it. Likewise, the Illinois Lottery could not yet pinpoint when it was sold.

Regardless, Circle G stood to claim a 1 percent reward for selling the ticket, or $32,500.

A spokesman for the lottery said it's typical for time to pass before a winner steps forward. Some come in right away jumping up and down, others check out tax strategies before claiming their winnings.
