Don't fall prey to fear tactics
McCain wants to distance himself from Bush. This could have seemed credible until Karl Rove got involved with his campaign and an abrupt shift in strategy occurred with the inclusion of the promotion of fear as a tactic. It was the consistent theme of Bush's campaigns. And the main theme of McCain's.
