Drill team offers dance workshop for girls
Young girls in first through eighth grades can learn various dance routines from the experts during the St. Charles East Drill Team's annual dance workshop. This popular summertime activity will be offered June 15-19 at the St. Charles East High School Sports Center.
All of the participants will learn three routines that will be taught by the current drill team members. Participants will be divided into smaller groups based on grade levels and will learn routines that will fit within their ability levels.
The dance workshop will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 15 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 16 to Friday, June 19. To conclude the workshop week, all dancers will take part in a performance for families and friends at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Sports Center is located within the St. Charles High School campus, 1020 Dunham Road, St. Charles.
Camp registration fee is $55 per dancer, which includes a T-shirt, group photo, participation certificate and additional items.
"Many of the girls on the team participated in the dance workshop as young girls themselves, so they are always so excited to work with our new, young dancers," said Heather Kamin, interim coach for the drill team. "We all want them to enjoy themselves and experience what it is like to learn routines and be a part of something fun like this team. Who know, someday, some of these little girls may grow up to be a members of the St. Charles East Drill Team."
Registration deadline is Tuesday, June 9. Information can be obtained through the drill team's Web site at www.stcedrillteam.com or by contacting Jennifer Payne at jlwpayne@aol.com or (630) 587-9253.
