Local male celebs to dish up their favorite meals

Celebrate Mother's Day weekend with "60 Men Who Cook," featuring 60 local celebrity men serving their favorite dishes at 6 p.m. Friday, May 8 at the Kane County Fairgrounds, 525 S. Randall Road, St. Charles.

The event is presented by the Geneva Chamber of Commerce to benefit the Geneva History Center, Geneva Lions Club and Rotary Club of Geneva

Attendees will sample hors d'oeuvres, main dishes, side dishes and desserts made by men they know in the community and then vote for their favorite "People's Choice Award" in each of the four categories.

Tickets are $25 before the event or $35 at the door and include food tastings, voting and entertainment. The evening will also include a cash bar and a raffle.

The following organizations benefit from "60 Men Who Cook."

• The Geneva Chamber of Commerce funds and promotes tourism activities including festivals that bring thousands of visitors to Geneva. Dollars spent are shared among retail, restaurants, service providers and suppliers while sales tax contributes to the City's general operating budget. The chamber and its members are community builders dedicated to sustaining local economic vitality and enhancing the quality of life in our hometown.

• The Geneva History Center collects and displays artifacts and information from Geneva's past for the purpose of educating the public. Through innovative educational programs, family friendly events, groundbreaking exhibits and critical historical resources, the Geneva History Center uses the past for a better understanding of the present and an improved future.

• Over the past 40 years, Geneva Rotary has touched hundreds of organizations in the Fox Valley. The men and women of Rotary are dedicated to improving the lives of people. The proceeds from this event will help to further efforts in providing additional vocational scholarships to deserving high school seniors.

• The Geneva Lions Club is the oldest service club in Geneva, founded in 1937 with 30 members. The Lions Club raises money primarily for the benefit persons who suffer from sight and/or hearing disabilities. A smaller percentage of funds is donated to local community organizations.
