DeVry to hold first 'virtual' career fair
DeVry University's career services department is hosting its first "virtual" career fair from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, to assist students and alumni in finding jobs in this tough economic climate.
More than 30 companies will participate in the fair, which is open to nearly 70,000 current DeVry students and thousands of alumni. "Despite the current state of the economy, there are companies out there that are still looking for qualified applicants to fill their open positions," said Carrie Rubin, dean of career services for Oakbrook Terrace-based DeVry University.
Among the corporations participating are State Farm, GE Healthcare, Procter & Gamble, Comcast, IBM and AT&T. Participating companies report more than 200 open positions that they are looking to fill. To participate, DeVry University students and alumni will create a password-protected profile that allows them to upload a resume, photo and other relevant information for potential employers.
On May 6, participants can login to the career fair Web site to search job listings and live chat with employers about career opportunities. After May 6, the job listings from the virtual career fair will be active for 90 days for students and alumni to continue their job search. A live chat option is available on May 6 during the virtual career fair hours.
