Bond reduction allows home alone mom to go free

A judge reduced bond Tuesday for a Lake in the Hills woman charged with leaving her two young daughters home alone twice in less than a year while she went out to a bar, allowing her to go free after nearly 12 weeks in jail.

Randi L. Losch, 28, posted a $1,000 bond and is free pending a May 19 status hearing on a pair of felony charges of endangering the life or health of child.

Losch had been in custody on $3,000 bond since her arrest during an early morning traffic stop Feb. 4 in which police discovered she was out while her children, ages 6 and 2, were home unsupervised for at least the previous three hours. She also was charged with driving DUI.

The arrest came just 15 days after Losch pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of endangering the life or health of a child stemming from a June 19 incident in which police said she left the girls unsupervised at about 11 p.m. while she went looking for her boyfriend at a Crystal Lake bar.

The boyfriend came home about 30 minutes later to find the girls alone.

They were not harmed on either occasion.

Losch, who received two years probation on the initial case, could face a maximum two to five years in prison if convicted on the new charges.

While on bond, Losch must abide by the terms of an order of protection obtained by her mother that allows only supervised visits with the girls.
