Park district offers passes

Fox Valley Park District is promoting its "Fall into Fitness" campaign throughout September by offering a free seven-day pass to any of the district's three fitness centers in Aurora. First-time visitors 16 and older may redeem the pass for a weeklong trial at Eola Community Center, 555 S. Eola Road; Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave.; and Vaughan Athletic Center, 2121 W. Indian Trail. For details, see foxvalleyparkdistrict.org.

Orchestra seeks musicians

DuPage Symphony Orchestra has openings for its 2009-10 concert season entitled "In Nature's Realm." The openings are in all string sections and in selected woodwind, brass and percussion sections. The repertoire includes masterpieces by Respighi, Tchaikovsky, Grofe, Schumann and Strauss. The orchestra rehearses Tuesday evenings in Naperville and presents the concerts at North Central College's Wentz Concert Hall. Kiwanis to host circus

Kelly Miller Circus will perform at 2 and 5 p.m. Sept. 27 at Community Park, 1825 Short St., Lisle. Before the performances, anyone is welcome to watch the animals being unloaded starting at 8:30 a.m. and the tent being raised at 9 a.m. Guides will be furnished. Ticket sales support the fundraising efforts of Lisle Kiwanis. VIP seats are $25; general admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children. Skaters invited to picnic

KidsMatter, along with the Naperville Police Department and Naperville Park District police, sponsor the sixth annual Skaters' Picnic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Centennial Beach Skate Park during the Last Fling celebration. Skaters of all ages are invited. The event includes professional skaters in action, music and a doughnut-eating contest between police and skaters. Computers for sale

Naperville Technology Group, Inc. and student volunteers, in partnership with Naperville Unit District 203, are offering refurbished computers for sale. The proceeds will be used by the Naperville Education Foundation to support student programs, which include donating computers for students who do not have them at home. To buy a computer, go to www.napertechgroud.com and pick it up on Aug. 29 at the District 203 Administrative Center, 203 W. Hillside Road, Naperville, or walk into the sale on Aug. 29.

Register for Naperville 5K

Registration is open for the Kathryn Bender Memorial 5K Walk/Run in Naperville. The event will take place at 9 a.m. Sept. 19 at Neuqua Valley High School, 2360 95th St. Preregistration is $20 per person and $50 per family and is due Aug. 29. After that date the cost is $25 per person and $60 per family. The walk supports the Kathryn Bender Memorial Foundation, named for Bender who died in 2005 while a senior at Naperville North High School. To register, visit www.kbmf.net.
