Body found outside Mount Prospect library

A 59-year-old man who was recently told to find a new place to live hanged himself Thursday morning outside the Mount Prospect library, police said.

A pedestrian found the man around 9 a.m., on at the northeast corner of Central Road and Emerson Street, said Mount Prospect Officer Bill Roscop. The library is at 10 S. Emerson St.

"The man had been living with a friend for a few months not far from the library," Roscop said. "Recently, the friend told him it was time for him to find another place to live."

Police did not know why the man picked the library for his suicide.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office was to have conducted an autopsy Thursday, Roscop said.
