Kiwanis Club provides food to needy families

On Friday, March 27, The Kiwanis Club of Streamwood took on a first-of-its-kind service project for the club. In association with the Northern Illinois Food Bank and the Hanover Township Food Pantry, the Kiwanis provided needy families in local communities with 10,000 pounds of food, just in time for the Easter holiday.

Twelve members of the club helped unload and distribute the food to the families, with the assistance of numerous other volunteers. Among the Kiwanians present were Hanover Township Supervisor, Mike Kelly and director of welfare services, Aurea Picasso.

Kiwanis is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving communities and serving the children of the world. For information about the Kiwanis Club of Streamwood, contact Cathy at (630) 213-3660.
