Miller, Parrish take McHenry Co. College board seats

Incumbent Mary Miller and challenger Ron Parrish grabbed the two openings for the McHenry County College board Tuesday.

With all McHenry County precincts reporting unofficial results, Miller led in McHenry with 41 percent of the vote, to 33 percent for Parrish, and 26 percent for Darger. Miller had 16,535 votes, Parrish had 13,514 and Darger had 10,451 votes in unofficial returns.

Parrish, a former student and teacher at the college, pledged to work as a liaison between the board and the PROMISE Foundation, which he chairs and which provides tuition payments to graduates in return for community service.

As an adjunct professor in business management at Northern Illinois University, Parrish, who lives in Woodstock, also hopes to emphasize a business perspective on the board.

Walter Packard resigned as college president in February. Since then, Brian Sager has filled the position on an interim basis.

Miller has said selecting a new president would be a top priority. As a trustee, Miller also supported plans for an athletic complex.
