Sports psychologist joins Schaumburg Flyers staff

The Schaumburg Flyers have announced a partnership with Argosy University for the 2009 baseball season to incorporate the mental and psychological aspects of being a successful athlete and the development of a winning team.

With this corporate partnership, Dr. Tracy Robinson and his team of sports psychologists will be working directly with Flyers Manager Mike Busch and the Flyers players on the mental aspects of game readiness and how to achieve success as a team.

"In any organization that I've ever been with at a major league level, we have employed somebody in the field of sports psychology, but I've never seen it yet at a minor league level," said Flyers Manager Mike Busch. "The mental approach to a job where you are a success if you fail seven times out of 10 is difficult, and being able to work with somebody like Dr. Robinson and his staff would definitely be a benefit to our players."

"Sports Psychology is used throughout major league baseball. We will help the ball players work through batting slumps, overcome throwing problems and improve overall performance," said Dr. Robinson.

The Flyers home game opener at Alexian Field is May 22.
