No changes in Vernon Hills

The Vernon Hills village board remained intact Tuesday as three incumbents coasted to victory.

Veteran trustees Thom Koch Jr. and Barbara Williams extended their tenures, while James Schultz won a second term.

With all 8 precincts reporting, unofficial totals showed Williams with 1,110 votes, followed by Koch with 1,102 and Schultz with 985.

Challengers David Smith and Michael Oren Rochow fell short with 541 and 403 votes respectively, according to unofficial totals.

In a low-key campaign, incumbents stressed the need to protect and enhance the village's massive commercial base, address traffic issues and keep a tight rein on the village budget.
