Frugal candidate in Wheaton
I am writing to strongly support Tom Mouhelis for Wheaton City Councilman. Tom is a dedicated public servant and has served the residents of the East District for the past eight years. I have had the pleasure of serving with Tom on the city council for the past four years. As a senior member of the City Council, Tom has shown leadership on the difficult issues, ranging from public safety to the budget. He is a leader on public safety issues and strongly supports the Wheaton police and fire departments. He is also at the forefront of veteran's issues in Wheaton and beyond. Tom is a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, entering service as an enlisted man and retiring as a major. Tom is also the former executive director of the Wheaton shelter for homeless veterans and instituted a program to recognize returning Wheaton veterans. In addition, Tom has repeatedly voted to cut expenses in response to the city's budget concerns. He is committed to maintaining the services Wheaton residents have come to expect while eliminating any nonessential costs. Tom has consistently acted in the best interests of Wheaton and we need his experience and leadership to meet the coming challenges facing Wheaton.
