Read Set Service to eliminate 122 jobs in Illinois
Ready Set Service LLC, which provides staffing to set up and maintain seasonal and promotional retail displays and shelves, plans to eliminate 122 local positions by mid-October after losing a major contract with Home Depot.
Ready Set Service, which has been in Elk Grove Village for 11 years, plans to close its facility by November and consolidate operations in Schaumburg through another subsidiary, owner Jay Prenta said Wednesday.
"Home Depot has decided to bring this business inside and have many of its own workers do it," Prenta said.
The Home Depot contract provided about $25 million annually for Ready Set Service. Home Depot told the company in March that it intended to terminate the contract by November, Prenta said.
Ready Set Service has about 500 workers and also has operations in Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan. Prenta declined to say how many more workers would be affected in those other states.
However, affected workers are being interviewed for similar positions at Home Depot. So some of those workers still may find permanent jobs, Prenta said.
