Roskam should stop the misinformation

There's been a steady stream of information from U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam in opposition to health care reform.

As an elected representative sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution, it is crucial that Roskam speak up and denounce those who are badgering, harassing, and threatening those other elected representatives attempting to discuss the Affordable Health Choices Act throughout our country.

It's not just about health care reform or party affiliation, it's the dangerous precedent being set to discuss any issue in America. It's essential that people not only have an opinion, but that they have an informed opinion.

That is the best way, the only way, to make intelligent decisions on direction our country will take.

Freedom of speech goes beyond being able to express yourself. It's the right to seek information. It's the right to discuss, share, and impart information. We listen to each other, correct each other when necessary, and learn from each other. It's not just about health care reform, it's about any issue.

However, when that speech is shouted and screamed, when it consists mostly of repeated talking points and misinformation, when it prevents others from expressing themselves, and turns to loud intimidation and threats against anyone who is of a different view - that is not the American way.

Congressman Roskam, why are you not speaking out against the mobs, the ones who are threatening and attacking the people who are, like yourself, elected representatives, trying to do what they were elected to do?
