In other news

"Picturing America": The library has been awarded a "Picturing America" grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. This program seeks to teach American history through art. As part of the grant, the library will receive an educational resource book and 40 full-color reproductions of American masterpieces, each measuring 24 by 36 inches. For information on the "Picturing America" program or to view the images that are a part of the grant, visit the Web site at picturingamerica.neh.gov. To commemorate the library's selection as a grant recipient, the library is sponsoring a photography contest. Any photographer, aged 14 and older, may submit up to three images either as 8- by 10-inch prints or via email at photocontest@frgml.lib.il.us. All photos submitted must be taken in Fox River Grove and be accompanied by a brief explanation as to how the image portrays the spirit of Fox River Grove. Prizes will be awarded to the top three submissions as judged by a panel and announced in the library's summer newsletter. The first-place winning entry will be framed and put on display at the library. All entries will be featured on the library's Flickr photostream and may be viewed at www.flickr.com/photos/frgml. The deadline to enter the "Picturing Fox River Grove" photo contest is May 16.
