Hanover Twp. offers tutoring:

Hanover Township Youth and Family Services will offer tutoring to students in grades 2 through 9 at its offices, 250 S. Route 59, Bartlett. Three certified teachers provide weekly one-hour, small-group tutoring sessions, which take place at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. Time slots fill up quickly, so early registration is recommended. The first semester runs Oct. 5-Jan. 11. Cost is $35 for Hanover Township residents. Sara Concepción, (630) 483-5799.

Marketing, media workshop:

The Volunteer Center, which promotes volunteerism in the suburbs by matching opportunities with willing volunteers, is hosting a workshop for nonprofits Wednesday about positioning your organization for community support and obtaining publicity through targeted local media. The event is 9 a.m.-noon today, Sept. 23, at Forest View Education Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights. Cost is $30 for TVC member agencies; $60 for nonmembers. No bike challenge Saturday:

The Mount Prospect Park District has canceled the Family Cycle Challenge that was scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Meadows Park in Mount Prospect. No other details are available.

Arlington blood drive Friday:

Shaun Gayle, a member of the Super Bowl champion 1985 Chicago Bears, will make an appearance at the Village of Arlington Heights-sponsored blood drive, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 at the Arlington Heights Senior Center, 1801 W.
