Learn about Thailand's culture, food at Batavia library

Wilailuck Wachirasakulchok, or as her students call her, Mrs. Luck, a native of Thailand, will talk about her country's culture, food, geography, and popular places to visit, at 7 p.m. Monday, April 6, at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

Her presentation will include photos and a display of Thai costumes, handicrafts, and packaged goods.

Wachirasakulchok, 38, is visiting Batavia for 10 months through the AFS intercultural teacher exchange. She is currently teaching at Rotolo Middle School in Batavia, assisting sixth-grade teacher Steve Young and teaching students all about Thailand. Last fall, she taught at Mill Creek Elementary School in Geneva.

Back home in Thailand, Wachirasakulchok lives in Samut Prakan, a suburb of Bangkok, with her husband, stepdaughter, and 10-year-old son. She teaches science to students at the middle school and lower high school levels.
