Man gets 10 years for fatal snowplow crash

A 38-year-old Woodstock man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Friday for killing a pedestrian while driving a snowplow drunk.

Antonio Escorza received a nine-year term for an aggravated driving under the influence conviction then another year added on for leaving the scene of a fatal crash, under the sentence handed down by McHenry County Judge Sharon Prather.

Authorities said Escorza was driving with a blood-alcohol level almost twice the legal limit Dec. 2, 2007 when his truck, fitted with a snow plow, collided with 23-year-old Christopher Foat of Woodstock, killing him.

Escorza, who was in the country illegally, also faces deportation when released from prison.
