Arlington Heights
• Vandals stole tools out of a disabled 1994 Ford pickup truck at Centennial Park, 1301 E. Burr Oak Drive, between 8:49 a.m. Sept. 25 and 7:48 a.m. Sept. 28 and used them to saw through four trees with 3-inch to 4-inch diameter trunks, dug a small hole in a soccer field, peeled the truck's steering column, and threw items from the truck around the park.
• Burglars stole gift cards valued at $4,000 out of a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu in a driveway on the 200 block of South Kaspar Avenue between 7 p.m. Sept. 27 and 10 a.m. Sept. 28.
• Thieves stole a deflated and folded children's bouncy house, 20-feet by 20-feet and 300 pounds, from a driveway at a home on the 400 block of South Patton between midnight and 6 a.m. Sept. 30. Value was estimated at $3,500.
• Burglars stole a GPS valued at $110 out of an unlocked 2005 Chevrolet Impala in a condominium lot on the 2200 block of South Goebbert Road between 11:30 p.m. Sept. 27 and 6:30 a.m. Sept. 28.
Buffalo Grove
• Bartosz Sikorski, 29, of 2900 block of North Natoma, Chicago, was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at Dominick's, 450 Half Day Road, and charged with retail theft, obstructing justice and on a Cook County bond forfeiture warrant for theft. Reports said three men filled a shopping cart with merchandise and left without paying; store security was able to hold one suspect and recover the merchandise. Reports said the subject admitted to committing similar crimes in Glenview, which is investigating.
• Two male teens were recorded on security cameras taking a bottle of vodka about 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Dominick's, 770 S. Buffalo Grove Road.
• Thieves smashed the driver's side window of a car and opened the trunk via a button in the glove box, taking a box of tools valued at $1,800 overnight Sept. 29 on Lockwood Court West.
• Thieves unlocked the training room over the weekend of Sept. 25 and removed two computers and a printer valued at $1,400 from International Profit Associates, 1275 Barclay Blvd.
• In September, Buffalo Grove officers handled 1,466 calls for service and 112 crashes.
Des Plaines
• Joseph N. Sykes, 53, of the 2000 block of Pine Street, Des Plaines, was arrested around 11:35 a.m. Sept. 30 in a car at the Speedway gas station, 1222 S. Lee St., and charged with disorderly conduct/trespass to vehicle. Reports said he approached a woman pumping gas to ask for money, would not leave, and got into the rear seat of her 2005 Hyundai Elantra, where officers found him. His court date is Oct. 14.
• Thieves stole a silver 2002 Jeep Cherokee from Rizza Auto Body Shop, 485 S. River Road, overnight Sept. 28-29.
• Thieves stole portions of six copper downspouts worth $1,500 on an office building at 3158 South River Road between Sept. 25 and 28.
• Thieves stole a champagne-colored 2005 Volvo tractor in a lot at 301 W. Touhy Ave. between Sept. 21 and 29.
• Vandals smashed the front and rear windshields on a 1996 Nissan coupe on the 100 block of Dover Drive between 10 p.m. Sept. 28 and 6 a.m. Sept. 29. Damage was estimated at $450.
Elk Grove Village
• Thieves smashed the passenger side window in a white 2002 Isuzu parked in front of a public storage facility in the 2900 block of Touhy Avenue the evening of Sept. 27, taking a GPS device, and causing a loss of $600.
• Thieves threw a piece of concrete through the glass entrance door of Doggit Restaurant, 812 E. Higgins, overnight Sept. 28 and stole $100 in change and did about $400 damage.
Mount Prospect
• Burglars stole saws, drills, hand tools, tin snips, sanders, levels, and wrenches worth $5,000 out of an unlocked 1990 Chevrolet van in a driveway on the 0-100 block of North Stevenson between Aug. 22 and Sept. 28 while the owner was in the hospital.
• Michael L. Jefferson, 41, of the 10000 block of Holly Lane, Des Plaines, was arrested around 2:45 p.m. Sept. 28 outside Walmart, 930 Mount Prospect Plaza, Rand and Central roads, and charged with retail theft. Reports said Jefferson and a male accomplice stole eight bottles of whiskey, a T-shirt, four bottles of cologne and four bottles of perfume worth $590. Jefferson ran into the Garden Fresh Market in the plaza where officers arrested him while his accomplice fled in a 1999 Chevrolet SUV. His court date is Nov. 10.
• Vandals slashed the front and rear passenger's-side tires on a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix in a driveway on the 400 block of North Pine Street between noon Sept. 28 and 8 a.m. Sept. 29. Damage was estimated at $250. Vandals slashed three tires on the victim's 2002 Nissan Altima in the same driveway three months ago.
Rolling Meadows
• Eddie O. Alvarado, 18, of the 3700 block of Emerson Avenue, Rolling Meadows, was arrested just after midnight Sept. 29 in the 2300 block of Algonquin Parkway and charged with criminal damage to property, criminal trespass and consumption of alcohol by a minor. Reports said a man was confronted by Alvarado, who had mistaken him for a member of a rival gang. After the man went into his apartment, Alvarado broke the door frame, causing $100 damage. Alvarado was stopped while running from the scene. His next court date is Oct. 29.
• Thieves stole a $799 Canon G7 digital camera Sept. 14 from a box on a table in a Burger King at 1901 Algonquin Road while the owner was retrieving lunch.
