How 'bout taking one for the team?

We have all heard about how spending is down, how employees are taking pay cuts, and that a recession has now been made official. The federal government is bailing out banks, possibly the auto makers, and now individual states are asking for a handout. State and local governments are struggling and dealing with deficits. They have increased taxes, fees, and still continue to reduce vital services. It is the perfect storm. Yet, before the federal government considers a bail out for states or even local governments, they need to ask this question of their fellow elected officials.

Have you, Mr. or Ms. Governor, Mayor, State Representative/Senator, Mayor, Council Member/Trustee, County Board member etc., considered taking one for the team and reducing your pay before cutting services?

I didn't think you did.
