Two hospitalized after five-car crash on Route 53

A five-car crash on Route 53, just south of the Woodfield Shopping Center, sent two people to the hospital Sunday afternoon.
Two people were taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, but none of the injuries appeared to be serious, Schaumburg firefighters said.
The crash occurred at 1:40 p.m., and it appears to have been a chain-reaction crash, police said. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Illinois State Police said four cars were towed from the scene, but could not provide any additional information about the accident.
