DuPage Woman’s Club to offer two scholarships
The DuPage Woman’s Club will be awarding two $1,000 scholarships to a student from each of the Wheaton high schools, Wheaton Warrenville and Wheaton North, who will be graduating this spring and attending college in the fall of 2024.
Scholarship applications are made through their schools.
They will be judged not only on their academic merits but also on their extracurricular and volunteer activities.
The scholarships are intended to honor the students who demonstrate strong academic achievements while balancing extracurricular activities.
The club is a nonprofit organization that has a long history of in this area. It was started in 1916. They met in various places over the years including the Masonic Temple, Loretto Convent, and Gary United Methodist Church and currently at the Glen Ellyn Library.
A room at Central DuPage Hospital bears their name; the Wheaton Drama Club is an outgrowth of their play reading group.
Today’s club sponsors scholarships for graduates of Wheaton schools and supports a wide variety of community philanthropies.
The winners will be honored at the club’s spring luncheon, May 14.
