•The Village of Hanover Park appointed David Webb Chief of Police. Webb, who joined the department in 1990 as a police officer, served for six years on patrol before being assigned to the Investigations division. In 2001, he was promoted to sergeant, where he served in the Patrol division and the Tactical Unit.
Webb was promoted to lieutenant in 2003, and in 2005, was promoted again to Deputy Chief, serving as Deputy Chief of Support Services and Operations. He holds a bachelor's degree in law enforcement administration from Western Illinois University and is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. Most recently, he attained a master's degree in law enforcement psychology from the Adler School of Psychology in Chicago.
• Buffalo Grove Police Sergeant Scott Kristiansen received two awards in recognition of his outstanding efforts in combating drunk and drug impaired driving. The Illinois Hero Award by Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the 2009 Brian McMillen Award were presented to Kristiansen Saturday, Oct. 10, in Springfield, at a ceremony honoring Illinois police officers and others, who have contributed to the fight against DUI's.
• Choice Hotels International, Inc., honored Fran Prybolo of the Comfort Inn hotel of Des Plaines with its Front Desk Service Excellence Award. The award, part of the Awards for Property Excellence program from Choice Hotels, recognizes properties and individuals in the Choice family that have demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence.
• Arlington Heights resident Angelique Feder will compete for the title of Miss Illinois Teen USA 2010 Nov. 20-22 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago. Feder, the daughter of James and Sandra Feder, is a freshman at Buffalo Grove High School. Her interests and activities include swimming, band, cultural and ballroom dance, singing, drama, comedy and improv.
• Bradley Ackerlund, a student at St. Viator High School, Arlington Heights, attended the 2009 National Leadership Summit, sponsored by LeadAmerica, at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. The National Leadership Summit is a college-accredited invitational leadership program for academically talented and promising high school students from across the United States and internationally.
