Loaded question only furthers divide

I received an e-mail from U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam, who was seemingly polling constituents regarding their stand on health care reform. However, the question is so manipulatively worded that it isn't even a question.

No one but the furthest left-wing progressive would answer yes to the question: "Are you in favor of a government takeover of health care?" President Obama clearly stated in his address to Congress that a single-payer option is not on the table.

This e-mail is a perfect example of how words can be manipulated to fit Congressman Roskam's version of the health care debate.

It is completely disingenuous of Congessman Roskam to ask constituents this loaded question. Yet, he will use the probably 90 percent negative vote results of this question to justify not voting for health care reform that includes a public option, saying it is not what his constituents want, when his constituents didn't have an option to answer anything differently.

This poll will drive a bigger wedge between proponents of health care reform and those that are afraid of a public option - and he will use that to further his own agenda, which is just to stop health care reform so that the Democratic Party is looked upon as a failure.

I believe the Republican party is committing treason by conducting activities such as this. They are trying to disrupt the government at the cost of every American who does not have health care and those who cannot see through their manipulative words and believe they are doing the right thing. The people of Illinois, including Congressman Roskam's district, deserve to be heard in a fair forum.

This man is supposed to be representing us; instead, he is manipulating us to conform to his own agenda.
