Orders must be received by April 7 for delivery May 2. The mulch sale is open to all residents of the Libertyville High School district. Proceeds from the sale benefit the boys lacrosse program at the high school. Order forms are available at libertyvillelacrosse.org. Call Julie Piazzi, (847) 816-3040.
Shoes wanted:
Residents are encouraged to collect their old athletic shoes and drop them off at the fourth annual Reuse-A-Shoe event at Warren Township High School's Almond Campus, from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 11. Environmental science students from Warren will be waiting outside the campus at 34090 Almond Road, Gurnee, to unload vehicles with donations of shoes for recycling. Warren science instructor Mike Mieszala is advising students for the recycling project that includes working cooperatively with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County. Any brand of athletic shoe is accepted, but no metal parts (including grommets or cleats) are allowed. Donated shoes are processed and recycled into a material used to create sports surfaces like basketball courts, athletic fields, running tracks and playgrounds.
