Seat-belt users recognized
Roughly 20 traffic crash survivors will be recognized during a special ceremony today in Naperville for wearing their seat belts. The "Saved By the Belt" program is operated by the state's Department of Transporation. Awards are given to residents who survived traffic crashes because they were wearing their seat belts. The event starts at 3 p.m. and will be in the community room at the Naperville Police Department, 1350 Aurora Ave.
Spell for charity
The Glen Ellyn Community Resource Center is sponsoring SPELLAPALOOZA! at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Glenbard West High School auditorium, 670 Crescent Blvd., Glen Ellyn. Tickets are $5 at the door. Teams representing organizations from throughout the area will compete in the spelling bee to raise funds for the resource center, which provides after-school and summer programs for literacy and life skills for children from low-income Glen Ellyn families. Naperville adds 17 spaces
Seventeen additional daily fee parking spaces will be available beginning today at the downtown Naperville Metra station. The spaces are located in a parking lot south of 5th Avenue and east of the water tower. To view a map of the new parking spaces, visit naperville.il.us/commuterparking.aspx.
