Need work or just passing the time?

A recent issue showed the pictures of two residents looking for employment. One was of a woman who was caught in the real estate fiasco and needs to find employment until her house in Hinsdale sells.

The other was of a man, who is unemployed and reported that he and his wife were seeking work. Not because of financial need but as something to do.

Many of us in that position turn to volunteering, leaving the paid positions for those in need. A business section subhead states that nearly 5 million are unemployed. How many of those are really needing work or just looking for something to pass the time?
