Two incumbents plus Mikal and Vickers in Antioch District 117

Wayne Sobczak, Dan Mikal, Ron Vickers, Joyce Heneberry, Sherri Skoog and Randy Mathias are vying for four seats on the Antioch High School District 117 board. Sobczak, Heneberry, Mikal and Vickers are endorsed.

Sobczak, the current board vice president, is an intelligent, dedicated leader who has been instrumental in keeping the district financially healthy while improving students' test scores.

Heneberry has served the district well for 33 years and will continue to do so if re-elected.

Mikal is a recently retired science teacher from this district, and his insight into student and teacher needs would be beneficial to the district.

Vickers is the current president of the Lake Villa District 41 school board. His knowledge of board operations and the area make him an ideal candidate.

In addition, his strong business background will help the board on its current fiscally-conservative, academic-excellence path. Skoog, a teacher in Antioch, exhibits enthusiasm for the post, but we'd recommend she attend at least one District 117 board meeting before seeking office. Mathias chose not to participate in the endorsement process.
