Hoffman Estates
• Anadkumar D. Patel, 36, of the 1200 block of Fairmont Road, Hoffman Estates, was arrested around 12:45 p.m. March 11 at the police station, 1200 Gannon Drive, and charged with contributing to the neglect of a child. Reports said he left his 6-year-old child home alone. His court date is April 27.
• Santiago Garcia-Avalos, 29, of the 100 block of Mora Road, Carpentersville, and Jose M. Meza, 29, of the 7600 block of Hearth Drive, Hanover Park, were arrested around 3:30 a.m. March 13 on Golf Road at Moon Lake Boulevard and charged with battery. Reports said the two followed a car after arguing with the male driver at Golf Rose Shopping Center and punched and kicked him at a stoplight on Golf Road and Moon Lake Boulevard. Reports also said Garcia-Avalos slapped the victim's female passenger, who got out of the car to stop the fight. Their court date is April 20.
• David F. Joo, 18, of the 600 block of Brookdale Drive, Schaumburg, was arrested around 8 a.m. March 12 at Jewel-Osco, 1069 N. Roselle Road, and charged with retail theft. Reports said he took a coffee maker, coffee filters, coffee beans, creamer, mug and a 5-pound bag of rice. His court date is March 26.
• Burglars pried open a locked room in the Mori-Seiki building under construction on the 2400 block of Huntington Boulevard between 3 p.m. March 9 and 6:30 a.m. March 10, cut a padlock on a toolbox and stole tools valued at $2,000.
• Burglars stole two brass water manifolds valued at $500 out of the new fire station under construction on the 5700 block of Beacon Point Drive between 5 p.m. March 6 and noon March 9.
• Vandals spray painted gang graffiti on a garage at a home on the 0-100 block of Payson Street between 8 p.m. March 9 and 3 p.m. March 10. Damage was estimated at $500. Vandals also spray painted gang graffiti on a 2000 Chevrolet Venture van on the 500 block of Payson Street between 7 and 9 p.m. March 11 and spray painted gang graffiti on a stop sign and speed limit sign at the intersection of Illinois Boulevard and Norridge Road and on a garage door on the 200 block of Illinois Boulevard.
Palatine
• Vandals smashed a living room window at an apartment on the 1400 block of Wyndham Circle between 9:30 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. March 12. Damage was estimated at $250.
• Thieves stole a laptop computer valued at $1,300 from Palatine High School, 1111 N. Rohlwing Road, between Jan. 20 and Feb. 27.
• Thieves stole $180 out of a female teacher's backpack at Palatine High School, 1111 N. Rohlwing Road, between 11:50 a.m. and 3:25 p.m. Feb. 26.
Schaumburg
• Robert L. Strand, 43, homeless, was arrested around 3:50 p.m. March 9 at Schaumburg Road and Pleasant Drive and charged with battery and resisting a peace officer. Reports said he punched and shoved an officer and struggled during the arrest. His court date is April 7.
• Nicholas Dale Mckeand, 19, of the 3400 block of West Lasalle Street, Phoenix, Ariz., was arrested around 4:45 p.m. March 7 at the Renaissance Convention Center, 1551 Thoreau Drive, and charged with theft. His court date is March 30.
• Michal T. Debosz, 22, of the 4600 block of North Oriole Avenue, Norridge, was arrested around 4:30 p.m. March 9 at Woodfield Mall and charged with retail theft. His court date is April 13.
• Thieves stole the front bumper fascia, headlights and front air bag assembly from a 2009 Dodge Caravan and the door handle from a second 2009 Dodge Caravan at a dealership on the 200 block of West Golf Road between 6 p.m. March 7 and 9 p.m. March 9. Loss was estimated at $5,000.
•Burglars broke into a 2008 Mazda at Woodfield Mall between 12:30 and 1:25 p.m. March 7 and stole a GPS unit and purse. Total loss was estimated at $525.
• Burglars broke into a 2008 Toyota Camry on the 1300 block of East Algonquin Road between 9:30 p.m. March 9 and 11:50 a.m. March 10 and stole a GPS unit. Loss was estimated at $775.
